1138 - Ancestors of Robert the Bruce -

1431-1476 - Vlad Tepes Dracul III (Dracula, Vlad the Impaler). Dracula translates to "son of the devil" or "son of the dragon".  He had two brothers, one older, Mircea and one younger, Radu.    The Impaler staked his victims by rank, the higher the station the longer the pole. Ten thousand people were impaled in the Transylvanian city of Sibiu, a town where Dracula had once lived, in 1460.  He ruled Wallachia with an reign of terror that held off invaders.  He is seen as a national hero and a great general in his peoples history.

1560-1614 - Erszebet "Elizabeth" Bathory (The Blood Countess) lured young women to her castle inorder to bathe in their blood which suposedly would retain her beauty. Elizabeth killed 612 women she documented their deaths in her diary.   

Late 16th Century - Clara Geisslerin of Germany was accused of having sexual relations with three demons. they conspired to dig up the graves of desceased children and drink their blood.    Accused of Vampirism, Witchcraft and Cannibalism.

1725 - In Serbia, the village of Kisilova, a report was filed against one Peter Plogojowitz that stated he had been seen walking around at night weeks after his death.  When the body was exhumed there was no odor, the only part decomposed was the nose, he had new skin and nails growing and had blood coming out of his mouth.

1727 - Arnold Paole of Serbia, town of Medvegia had died sevral years earlier and was now being seen in peoles houses.  Nothing was done about it until several of these same people turned up dead suddenly. When they exhumed the his body "they found that he was quite complete and undecayed, and that fresh blood had flowed from his eyes, nose, mouth, and ears; that the shirt, the covering, and the coffin were completely bloody; that the old nails on his hands and feet, along with the skin, had fallen off, and that new ones had grown; and since they saw from this that he was a true vampire, they drove a stake through his heart, according to their custom, whereby he gave an audible groan and bled copiously."

1824 - Antoine Leger was accused of killing a 12 year old girl and drinking her blood.

1849 - Sergeant Francois Bertrand (the Vampire of Montparnasse) accused of vampirism and necrophilia.

1867 - The Portuguese sailor James Brown is caught on a fishing boat in Boston Harbor drinking blood from the neck of another sailor, the second of two men he slaughtered that day. He was placed in an insane asylum, after his death sentence was commuted by President Andrew Jackson, and commenced to attack inmates.

1872 - Vincenzo Verzeni (The Living Vampire) of Bottanaucco, Italy was covicted of murdering two people attempted murder of four.He cofessed to deriving pleasure from drinking their blood.

1879-1924 - Fritz Haarman "vampyre of Hanover", Germany.  Lured young men to home, fed them food and wine, then sucked them dry of their blood than sold their carasses as Meat on the street.

19th century - Miss Rose, Placedale, Rhode Island. Exhumed by her father because he believed she continued to "exhaust the vitality" of her family. He cut out and burned her heart. (The Vampire, In Legend and Fact, Basil Copper, 1993). 


19th century - Mercy Brown, Exeter, Rhode Island. *Important note: Mercy Brown may be the same case as the immediate preceding entry of Miss Rose. Although I am unable to verify the information at this time, proceed with the assumption that these two cases, documented here, are one and the same.* All five family members, George Brown (father), Mary (mother), Olive (sister), Edwin (brother), Mercy (presumed vampire) succumb to "consumption" and are at one point exhumed by townspeople to check for vampirism. Only Mercy Brown, the youngest of the siblings, is found in seemingly perfect condition without evidence of decomposition, so the townspeople cut off her head. 


1910 - Salvarrey, Galazanna, Portugal. A young girl was found exsanguinated and the only suspect was Salvarrey who confessed he was a vampire.
